Indianapolis

i was away this weekend
in indianapolis, for a women’s conference
and the time was, in many ways, what i needed.
i was with 7 other ladies, amazing ones,
sitting under challenging teaching and honest stories.
and with a women’s event of any sort
comes food, restaurants, late night snacks and drinks…
and this trip too, of course.
you’re probably familiar with that feeling
after ordering and consuming something that you don’t normally eat
or over-doing the night time snacks,
splurging on some sweet treat before sitting in the car for those last 3 hours
and feeling the regret for the next day or 2 (mostly in the form of bathroom visits).
you might know these feelings
i’m familiar with them too, spending time with them right now actually.
just know – and preach it to yourself if + when necessary –
there’s grace for these moments, these weekends, these upset stomachs.
choose grace for yourself. meditate on the grace that God gives to you without cost. sit quietly for a few minutes with a warm detox tea. skip a meal. drink water. give your body time to flush out some of the extra treats. and plan your meals for the week.
successful people plan their day before it begins.
plan your time, your relationships, your work, your prayer time, your rest –
plan ahead,
practice grace,
and be well
